What a great thing to wake up to at six in the morning: Road Construction! After getting out of bed from the sound of this loud drilling and machinery, I looked out the window and see this huge construction asphalt machine plowing through 12th street. Now, of course it's awesome that we finally are getting the street worked on, because that road is just way too bumpy and crappy, but to wake up to something like that is kind of lame. But on the other hand, for those of you who checked out my previous blog, it's better than waking up to thumping from upstairs.
Anyway, as I looked out the window, I was just amazed as to how these big trucks could just maneuver around in-coming traffic and how easy it is to just crash into one of these things. Seeing this truck out the window spitting out asphalt and laying new asphalt in was quite amazing. You don't see something like that right outside your window everyday. As it currently is 1:42 pm, and I left the house at 11:00, I suspect that they are done by now so the street should be nice and flat...for at least the next 20 years ha ha! As I saw people walking by, it just occurred to me how people can be so ignorant to know that these are the machines that make our lives possible to get around. These huge trucks-- although they might be in your way while driving-- they are the ones that make the driving safe and possible for our cars. Now, I'm sure if I was riding my bike or driving a car and saw that going on, my first instinct would be to get annoyed and say to myself, Of all the streets, why does it have to be the one I live on! But after considering that it's for a good cause, and that this proves as to what our tax money is going to (for the most part anyway), I have come to sit here and just appreciate the job that that they do.
